Our Mission

Bridging Hearts exists to combat loneliness among elderly individuals by creating meaningful, intergenerational connections. Through companionship, conversation, and community involvement, we strive to restore dignity, joy, and a sense of belonging to elderly individuals who often feel forgotten.

Meet The Founder

At just 16 years old, Johna Haltom is the heart and vision behind this nonprofit organization.

A straight A student graduating a year early from high school in 2027 as a Junior, Johna has always been driven not only by academic excellence, but by a deep sense of compassion for others. While many teenagers focus on what’s next for themselves, Johna is focused on how she can make a lasting difference in her community.

Her passion began with a simple but powerful realization: many elderly individuals living in nursing homes experience extreme loneliness and isolation. Some rarely receive visitors or no one at all. Johna recognized the emotional toll this takes and chose to do something about it.

This organization was created to connect the elderly with high school students and even members of the community to build meaningful relationships across generations. Through conversation, companionship, and shared experiences, these connections can help restore a sense of belonging, dignity, and joy to some of the most overlooked members of our society. The Elderly.

Despite her young age, Johna understands that loneliness can be just as harmful as physical illness, deeply affecting mental and emotional well-being. Her commitment to fighting isolation aligns with her future goals—Johna plans to attend college and pursue a career in Psychology, with a lifelong mission of helping others heal and feel connected.

This nonprofit represents something greater than any one person. It is Johna’s way of giving back, fostering empathy in younger generations, and ensuring that no one feels forgotten.
